Still Missing From The Site
Acorn Electron World Logo
The first port of call for everything ever produced for the Acorn Electron

Games are relatively easy to write on the Acorn Electron. So easy in fact, that almost everyone in the early Eighties was trying to cash in with their own programs. Many companies were only in the Electron market for a short period of time, leaving it to concentrate on the more "established" BBC or Spectrum user base. We've scoured eBay for years trying to get hold of some of the titles advertised in Electron User and The Micro User and we've had some success. However, this page shows just some of the games we know to exist but still have not tracked down.

GARLAND COMPUTING

A whole heap of programs remain outstanding from Garland, and we can do no better than quote from their advertisement: ANGLES, DIRECTED NUMBERS, FRACTIONS, CO-ORDINATES AND LINES, MOTION GEOMETRY, SETS, ELEMENTARY STATISTICS and RATIO.

We also still haven't tracked down any Electron versions of the MAKE SAM SMILE series.

GEMINI

If you owned a small business back in the Eighties, perhaps you invested in Gemini's so-called "serious software"? We've sourced a few Gemini titles over the years but we still need DATABASE, STOCK CONTROL, SPREADSHEET ANALYSIS, HOME ACCOUNTS, EASILEDGER and GRAPH PLOT.

LCL

LCL produced educational programs for the Electron book on cassette and in books to type in. We've managed to source many of their titles but an advertisement in Electron User 1.05 may suggest two titles missing from the site: PICTURE PUZZLES and MILLION MAZES. Their advert only mentions that BRAINTEASERS is available for immediate despatch, suggesting these two games were still in production at the time. Did these make it through to a release?

SCORBY SOFT

We know nothing about Scorby Soft as titles could only be ordered directly from its premises in Scarborough. However, an advertisement in Electron User 1.05 offers:

1.   ELECTRON UTILITIES
2. INFORMATION HANDLING
3. FUN MATHS 1
4. FUN MATHS 2

SIR COMPUTERS

Sir Computers was a business run in Cardiff and everything bearing the distinctive logo (right) is in decidedly short supply. First appearing in February 1984 in Electron User, the boffins at Sir Computers boasted that they were "first for Electron support". And they surely were - launching their SIR 12 ROM BOARD, a SIR ELECTRON PRINTER AND JOYSTICKS INTERFACE in this very first standalone issue. Any and all hardware expansions produced by Sir are missing from the web site.
