| The first port of call for everything ever produced for the Acorn Electron |
| |
 |
| |
In 1983, Acorn Computers produced a home computer modelled on a cut down BBC Model B. It was called the Acorn Electron, it boasted a mammoth 32K of memory and came in a frighteningly alluring shade of beige. It sold for about £200 on launch (A figure which may seem a lot but competed well with rival machines of that time) and came bundled, from most suppliers, with five Acornsoft games, the User Guide and a data recorder.
Some of you reading this are doubtless old enough to remember this computer of the "poor man", the thousands of additional games that were developed for it and the miraculous hardware expansions that arrived by the bucketload to upgrade its capability. Maybe you too collected the 8-bit magazines that supported it. Perhaps you're even a member of our own on line fanzine in the present day... |

| Epic Proportions |
| Whether you're a old hand or a first timer, Acorn Electron World is your portal to everything that was ever written for, created on, discussed or published for this collectible machine. The site is much more than a few downloads and screenshots. It is a historical museum of epic proportions, featuring answers to any question you may care to pose.
Come in and have a look around. If you owned the basic version mentioned above, you may well be overawed to learn just what was 'out there' for the humble Electron (or "Elk", as it is sometimes known). And if such thoughts fill you with bleary-eyed nostalgia then this site will truly amaze... For we have left no stone unturned in our quest to document everything "Elk-related" that ever existed. |

| It's All Free! |
This site is hosted by www.netnorth.co.uk, and everything on it is yours for free - and we are currently celebrating our fifth birthday. The site now holds over 3,000 discs - yes, that's correct, discs - for the Acorn Electron, and all are correctly categorised and freely downloadable. In our other archives you'll find gigabytes' worth of instructions, articles, magazine scans, hardware information and book and manual .doc files. Only a very small number of products are still 'missing', and we daily search the auction sites in the hope of bringing them to you... |
| |
 |
| |
| Almost everything on the web site can be transferred, or has already been transferred, to a real Electron. The disc images we supply do not merely contain the program, they contain an ASCII file of the text, a menu allowing it to be called up at the touch of a key, game help, cheats, etc. At the same time we keep it all easy to view on line - as we are aware most of you now emulate your Acorn Electron on your PC.
We hope you enjoy your visit to Acorn Electron World and, if you're here looking for a particular product, hope that it is something we have successfully preserved for you. |

| Retro Gaming Heaven! |
What we imagine most of you are here for though, are games. Currently, we carry all those professional titles we have successfully transferred to disc format in the Haven section of the discs archive. But do check out the PD (Public Domain) World section of this archive as well.

All there is left to say is we hope you enjoy the retro look and feel of the site. Look out for the tour guide links for how to use it. |
