I trust you're still pondering over my latest offering and my disk or a replacement will soon be on its way back.

Having received EUG #14 I must say I'm quite impressed by what you have in mind. I feel I must write and 'chatter away'. After all, as you say, with all those readers out there, somebody's bound to be interested in my babblings.

First, I would like to thank Will for his sterling efforts in getting EUG up and running. I haven't been with EUG from the start - coming in at about EUG #7 - but, from what I've seen since I have, I've been well impressed. Indeed, if it hadn't been for those articles in Micro's Computer Mart, I might never have known about EUG and missed out on all sorts! I would also like to thank Derek Walker for all the help he has given me. He quite happily replies to my problems that I keep sending him through the post and makes some wonderful gadgets.

The idea of members 'introducing' themselves by way of a letter such as this, I find quite appealing. I am a member of the Dormobile Owners' Club which caters for people with old, Dormobile-make motorcaravans. When you apply to join, the first thing they ask for is a letter about yourself and family and a photo of the same. This is then put in the next available magazine and this way you feel that you know the other members at least slightly. Obviously the photo bit wouldn't be possible in our case.

Right then, about me. I'm 29, married to Tina and have a two year old son, David. I'm a bit of an electronics dabbler. I don't really know what I'm doing yet but I take things to bits to see how they work and generally play about with things to get them going. My disk drive article (EUG #12) is a classic example of this. I'm not especially into computers but a while ago someone gave me an Elk which they had bought when it first came out with all good intentions and then got fed up with and hid in a shed for a few years. Having a good clear out one day, they thought "Ah! A bit of old electronic junk here - John might like this!" Thus I ended up with it and on enquiring at various computer places locally, I got a lot of, "Oh! One of them old things. You won't be able to do much with that. They gave over with that a long time ago." Just at that moment, an article appeared in Micro's Computer Mart and I realised that all was not lost. I bought a second hand ACORN PLUS 1 and Acorn Plus 3 and have been dabbling ever since.

I'm a fairly keen DIYer having done the kitchen and bathroom to date and various other smaller projects so I'm looking forward to the shower mixer article. I have an old (1976) Bedford/Dormobile motorcaravan which has been another bit of a DIY project and which I hope to have ready soon. I'm hoping for plenty of good weather this year to try it out.

I think that's enough chatter for now. If I go on much more, you'll have no Letters page space left.
