Thanks for EUG #14. Please excuse my tardiness in writing but I've not had a lot of time just lately. I'm enclosing a cheque for £5.20 as payment for four issues at the current rate. That should keep me in front for a little while.

I approve of your idea of encouraging the members of the Electron User Group to write in on a wide variety of topics rather than stick to the usual diet of technical information and game cheats! At age fifty, I may not be one of the oldest Electron users but I'm sure not one of the youngest either! And there might be a problem here with the good old age gap. What interests people in their teens and twenties may not interest persons of our vintage. But, as they say, it's worth a try...

I've had an Electron for some years now. This is my second machine. The first one succumbed to a power surge or something. Anyway, it died. I then bought one from Slogger with the MASTER RAM BOARD.

I have been tempted to upgrade to a PC or an ARC but so far have resisted that urge. The Elk staggers on and, although I am sometimes frustrated by its eccentricities, I keep on using it.

As far as programs go, I find the word processor VIEW most useful since I like to try my hand at writing. What do I write? Well, rubbish mostly! I work in an art gallery, one of the municipal ones. No, I'm not an art expert, just a dogsbody concerned with cleaning, security and so on. The area in which I live is called Tameside. That's because of the proximity of the River Tame. Tameside consists of the boroughs of Ashton-Under-Lyne, Stalybridge, Dukinfield, Audensham, Denton and Droylsden. That's pretty boring, isn't it? Never mind, there might be one or two other EUG readers in the area. Is anyone out there?

Interests? Computers, but I'm not a techie. Books of various kinds including anything odd, unusual and so on. I like Sci-Fi, especially funny Sci-Fi. Thrillers, but not plain whodunnits. Spooky yarns, especially the ones that are supposed to be true... Photography has been an interest of mine for years but I seem not to get much time for it now.

I'm having a go with LINKWORD just now in an attempt to learn a bit of Spanish. I have a Slogger T2P3 ROM in my system so I have been able to copy the tape-based LINKWORD programs onto a disk which improves the speed of access (purely for my own use of course, your honour).

Well, I've waffled on long enough for one letter. Maybe some of the other group members will be encouraged to waffle a bit too. 99% of them must have more interesting things to say than me!
