There are two utilities on this disk I received from Richard Dimond some time ago called TYPE and TYPEIN.

TYPEIN will allow you to produce a text file similar to a View file or one using *BUILD. You simply type in your text pressing RETURN after each line. To exit and save the text, type 999 (RETURN).

It isn't as versatile as View by a long shot but is nevertheless an interesting exercise and may be extremely useful. I have been meaning to use this program as a possible EUG word processor for some time, I am dreaming of something that has all the most useful commands found on View but without all the features we never use. It could incorporate a spellchecker too - for example, the one published in Electron User. It could even incorporate a SAVE protection routine and perhaps some means of printing different font characters and underlines to the screen as well as the printer - instead of the system used in View with symbols.

This is alas simply a pipedream at the moment. I haven't nearly enough time to even begin it!

TYPE allows you to look at a text file and was the basis for an early version of the EUG CODE4.
