The Micro User (which began life as
BBC Micro User) was an independent magazine for the BBC Micro, and was the equivalent companion magazine to the Beeb as
Electron User was for the Electron. When
Electron User finished its run,
The Micro User assured Electron owners that there would be many further programs within its pages and, truth be told, it did not disappoint.
It ran for over eight years, going on to include
Let's Compute! when it folded in 1991, and changing its name (to
Acorn Computing) in order to reflect the changing market at Volume 10 No. 8. Many programs it published were designed only for the BBC Micro (and, later in time, BBC Master) but a great deal of them ran, unmodified, on the Acorn Electron. It is therefore a legitimate part of the Acorn Electron World archive.
Its main focus was games. Each early issue included a 'Game of the Month' in addition to the catalogue of type-in games, and each issue had its own companion cassette (or disc), all of which are available in the
Micro User catalogue.
All of
The Micro User magazines have been scanned but the resulting images are so large that they cannot be included on the single
Acorn Electron World DVD. If you would like to purchase the magazines in scanned format, please visit the link to the
DVD for more details.
