I'd never seen Imogen three weeks ago and had no idea what it was about. A friend recommended it to me. I've never looked back. It is without doubt the most addictive, amusing, frustrating and brilliant game I have ever played. I enjoyed playing it and was even more addicted to it than ELITE - and I never thought I'd say that!
Imogen is a superbly animated adveture game. The animation and detail of the game has to be seen to be believed. Screenshots of this game would never be able to do it justice.
You play the part of Imogen, a wizard with powers of metamorphosis. You have been imprisoned in a vast mountain, and to escape you must solve many intriguing and frustrating puzzles to earn your freedom by assesmbling 16 spell fragments.
You can, at any time, transform yourself into a monkey or a cat (and once into a bird). This proves invaluable since all the forms you take have different abilities. For example, the wizard form can use objects such as swords, axes, torches, guns and dynamite. The cat can jump high and far, the monkey can climb (and of course the bird can fly).
All aspects of the game other than the motion of the main character are controlled via icons at the top of the screen. These are implemented very well indeed and enhance the ease of gameplay no end.
Overall the blend between arcade and adventure elements of Imogen is spot on. And in conjunction with the excellent animation and sheer addictiveness of the game, it had to be awarded 11 out of 10 overall. (I've 'only' given the sound 10 because it was not better than brilliant!)
