Yellow Haze

I have neglected EUG and I offer the following excuses:

  1. I have always tended to use a BBC than an Electron
  2. I have become disloyal by buying a Pentium PC, and
  3. My Electron is broken and I cannot read your disks on a BBC or PC!

However, I still love my Electron and would like to stay with EUG if you can help me mend it.

I'm sure it's a common fault. What happens is, after a while (5, 10, 20 minutes), the screen suddenly goes bright yellow with lots of irregular parallel lines across it. I lose all that was on it and have to switch off. Later on, it's ok for a while again.

I have a spare machine so if it is a simple task of swapping a chip or two over, I can manage that. I cannot use the spare as it is bog standard, while my broken one is 64K with an MRB.

If you or any of your colleagues can get me up and running, I would be forever grateful. In the meantime I enclose sufficient money to hopefully bring me up to date with your disks.

Excuses not accepted. EUG runs very well on a BBC. A number of members use it on one.

Sorry to hear about your problems. They could be due to poor contacts on some of the chips and perhaps the ULA? Try gently moving any chips in sockets up and down.

Alternatively, contact Slogger or Jafa Systems to either have it repaired or the MRB put into the good machine. Go for it though, the Elk is worth repairing.
