Data-Word

It's not just a database

This unique program has been designed with ease of use as a priority and fulfils many of the needs for a database in the National Curriculum. It works just like a card index but the flexibility of the text editor allows you to also use Data-Word as a word processor too!

Another really powerful feature of Data-Word is the built-in card linking system which means parents and teachers can create files of inter-connected cards. This is not just a database, it's a word processor, quiz game, electronic programmed learning book... and a fabulous introduction to the world of Information Technology.

Data-Word comes complete with five fascinating example files and two of the revolutionary Triple-R keyboard overlays. No longer need young children be confused by capaital letters on a normal keyboard. These overlays replace them with lower case letters and give the option of retaining the usual qwerty arrangement or replacing it with a more user-friendly alphabetic one. Adults who are not used to computers will also find this alphabetic layout a useful aid to finding their way around the keys.

Data-Word Ideal

There are many situations in the National Curriculum where a database can be used. For example, children must be able to "collect data" and "record findings". Although this type of task can be carried out on paper, Data-Word is ideally suited for them and makes them far more enjoyable.

However, there are specific areas where a database *must* be used. "Enter and access data in a simple database" and "Amend and add to information in an existing database" are just two of the many examples. Again, Data-Word is the ideal program for these tasks.

But Data-Word isn't just a database. Its simple word processing capability lets youngsters use it to write about anything they want. The writing can then be retrieved later - another task demanded by the National Curriculum.

When Data-Word isn't being used as a database or word processor, its powerful record linking system means it can be used as a revision aid for any subject.

Data-Word is a really flexible cross-curricular piece of software.

Needed At Home

Many people find their computers terribly intimidating. With most software having so many features that are never used, it really isn't surprising that they can be frightened away.

Data-Word has only the essential features making it so easy to use. For instance, to write a letter you just load Data-Word, type your letter and print it. What could be simpler?

And for occasional users who aren't used to the qwerty arrangement of the keys, we've even included an alphabetic keyboard overlay. Now everyone can use the abc arrangement that they already know.
