Mandarin claim that this is one of the most exciting games ever produced for the BBC Micro and Electron. This is obviously over-exaggerating its worth. However, it is a good game. A very nice feature is the split-screen. This allows one or two player action. With a friend, you stand a better chance of averting the so-called impending cataclysm.
You have a birds-eye view of the action. And the action is very fast and very smooth. You control a powerful spaceship and need to plan the routes you take in order to build up your armour, blaster and health ratings.
Icarus consists of twenty different levels. Each one gets progressively more complicated and more infested with malfunctioning droids. There are many features to negotiate; forcefields to disable; mines; electronic doors; emergency lifts; moveable walls, etc.
To sum up, it's a game not to be missed, and is quite unique for the BBC and Electron micros.
