Your Mistakes

Many thanks for EUG #20, another highly enjoyable read. However, I must say I had one or two problems running some of the programs.

There was a problem when using the Disk Compression on the version you sent me [Whoops! - Gus] and it dislayed the message "Too many files open at line 80" after ten pictures. This is because ADFS only allows ten files to be opened at once and the files opened in the program were not closed. It was a very simple matter to add the command CLOSE #0 in the program's main loop though. [This has now been remedied on the master disks - Gus]

MASTERMIND

This produced a "No room" error. I have an original Acorn Plus 3 (L-shaped) which eats a lot of memory, so I had to load ADFS E00 into Sideways RAM and then it was fine.

I'm not complaining. I just thought my findings may help others.

That's all for now, although I've enclosed details elsewhere for the equipment review.

You are quite right - a number of mistakes were made compiling the Games Menu on EUG #20. On the bright side, I think most members could see the superb pictures from Simon Pilley; I was innundated with positive comments about them.

Thanks for the address. I know several members will be interested.
